What is Rizq? Rizq in Arabic or rezeki in Malay is unpredictable. Sometimes, it comes through unknown sources and in varying forms too. Wealth, health, even the greying hair is Rizq from Allah. Some scholars translate Rizq as 'sustenance', 'provision' and some call it 'blessings'.
One form of such rizq is the Holy Qur'an, then there is the Sunnah of the Prophet sa and his sayings. The Companions attained beneficence from all these. In addition, the Holy Prophet sa made a prophecy about the latter-days.
Allah is the One who determines our rizq or sustenance. And indeed, one of the names of Allah is 'Ar-Razzaq' or 'The Provider'. Allah provides sustenance to all of humankind, whether they are believers or non-believers, and all of His creations including animals and plants.
al-Razzāq, one of Allah's beautiful names, signifies His role as the ultimate Provider and Sustainer of all creation. The Qur'ān reminds us of His limitless provisions: وَمَا مِن دَابَّةٍ فِي الْأَرْضِ إِلَّا عَلَى اللَّهِ رِزْقُهَا. "And there is no creature on Earth, but that upon Allah is its provision." [1]
